Pew Research and Gallup agree:
- 91% of U.S. adults have mobile phones (Pew 2013)
- 64% of Americans have a smartphones (up from 35% in 2011) (Pew 4-1-15)
- 85% of Generation Y (18 to 29 year olds) have smartphones; use increases with higher income and decreases with greater age
- 68% use smart phones for breaking news
- 72% of smartphone owners check them at least every hour and 52% multiple times per hour; 81% keep phone near them during all waking hours (Gallup 2015)
