The Terrible Loss

For an administration that likes to win, it is facing a terrible loss. The U.S. is now in undisputed first place in loss of life from the coronavirus and is unlikely to give up the lead. The tragedy also has negated the Trump administration’s most high-profile accomplishment – the economy – which is now in free fall with 22 million jobs lost in the last month.

One week after the Easter Sunday total of 22,000 victims, the U.S. has now nearly doubled it. When the U.S.’s toll passed Italy more than a week ago, it was clear that at its accelerated rate the U.S. would dominate the world and is now at a quarter (24%) of total worldwide deaths.
