Crime Capital of Colorado

Pueblo leaders are moving to take on the crime and gang problems that have labeled the town a crime capital in the most prestigious papers in the nation and Colorado. In the last month, the New York Times and Denver Post have published high-profile stories on Pueblo’s struggle with crime due to record-level murders and gang-related heroin trafficking.

Adding money to police budgets through additional taxes and putting some limits on the burgeoning marijuana industry are two proposals local business and political leaders are examining.
