The latest list of top ten competitive U.S. Senate races from the Washington Post moves Michael Bennet’s seat from fifth to sixth, not because the state is seen as less competitive, but because no top tier Republican has come forward and the recruiting seems to be very offline.
Ahead of Colorado in competitiveness is Nevada, ranked fourth after the retirement of Harry Reid. But Nevada Republicans also have not identified a strong candidate. Democrats and Reid are backing a former State Attorney General, Catherine Cortez Masto.
Further West, California has an open senate seat with the retirement of Barbara Boxer. But who cares. The state has no serious political party competition.
