Turnout is Democrats’ Challenge

Democrats are working to increase turnout among their core constituents. They have reason to make that a top priority. Voter turnout tends to drop about 30 percent between a midterm and a presidential election.

The 2010 Bennet vs. Buck race saw 1.8 million voters, but 2.6 million Coloradans participated in the 2012 presidential election.

Republicans can expect about 400,000 rank and file voters to turn out in their gubernatorial primary.
